標點符號的運用（Punctuation）  

     當我們說話時，會提高音亮來加強語氣，會停頓來表示語意說畢，而在文字表達上，標點符號便擔當著重要的角色，例如：表示句子完結，詢問句，對話等。有時候，標點符號更可將說話時較難表達的意思提出來，如直接引述別人的語句或文章。如果要讀者明白文章內容，便須正確運用標點符號了。

問號 Question Mark ？  

1.            問號用於結束直接問句（direct question），如果是間接問句（indirect question）則用句號。

例子：直接問句（direct question）

What can I do for you？

I want to go, but how can？

“When will you go to school？” he asked.

例子：間接問句（indirect question）

She asked me when you could go.

2.           問號可用於某些句子結尾當作問題，以表示懷疑或不肯定。

例子：

You actually like David？

（注意：這句子用問號或句號會有不同意思。）

3.             將問號加上括號，可用作不肯定的日期或數字。

例子：

Mary Browns, an English author who was born in 1578 (？) and died in 1630, wrote pamphlets on women's rights.

感嘆號 Exclamation Point ！

感嘆號可作加強語氣，表示嘆息、命令、驚慌或不信任等，可放在一句子、子句或短語之後。

例子：

Help！

Peter！ Look out behind you！

“Oh no！ There's been an accident！” cried my sister.

Get out of my way！Now！

注意：當使用問號或感嘆號時，不要再跟著使用逗號或句號。

例子：

錯誤句子：　She asked, “How are you?.”

正確句子：　She asked, “How are you?”

錯誤句子：　“You can't do that again！,” ordered my father.

正確句子：　“You can't do that again！” ordered my father.
